Wondering if anybody is familiar with the intimate workings of Googe.de?
I noticed that it is not about language.
For example, compare:
http://www.google.de/search?q=concrete+home

My site, Concrete-Home.com, is #1, with no German content.

But on Google.com:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=concrete+home

It is #12.

Now, compare searches for "webmaster forum":
On Google.com, a German language forum is #1:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=webmaster+forum

On Google.de, the same site is #1.

Anybody got the Google.de algo? 8)

Anybody got the Google.de algo?

That was meant as kinda tongue in cheek. I don't really expect anybody to actually have it on their harddrive.

and who really shot kennedy?
First: it wasn't me !

Now, compare searches for "webmaster forum":

I also got similar results searching for other sites. Allover the world the foreign sites always seem to be better-ranked.
Perhaps the folks at Google want to intensify the international aspects of the web...
So it could be more successful to search for my site on google.fr or google.it

My friend Pumi from phpBB.de,
I'm thinking about this. Google can tell the difference between English content pages and German content pages.
Seems to me if a search is done in English, only English language content pages should come up, and if a search is done in German, only German language content pages should come up.

Sorry, in fact I really do not know much about Google, diet coke or Kennedy...
But I know that for ex. the german term for "webmaster forum" also is "webmaster forum". So in such cases google can't tell no difference between the languages.
There are also lots of "german" pages containing big parts written in english language...
So with my childish belief, I think google simply is no nationalist... :D

I was under the impression that German for "webmaster forum" is "webmasterforum", no?
But why do English pages come up on Google.de?

You're right. But we also use both words as well.

But why do English pages come up on Google.de?
I'm glad of that. So I can find pages of my interest easyly. No matter if they are in german or english.

But shouldn't Google.de be for German pages, and Google.com for English? Just easier that way...
