Well, Macs are like the god of computers (in my world ;)), but software is limited. I personally use a PC. May I ask if there's anything special that you're going to be using it for?

Macs are awesome...look better too, but they're expensive and limited software, I like PCs because they're cheap and I can build one.

i prefer PC's all around, but for specifics such as grafix, i would have to go with the mac, thats one segment that the mac is good for as apposed to the PC, though limited software and more costly, mac's are the source of making high quality(and viewing) graffix, many designers choose the mac over PC for that very reason, though now i dont know considering PC's are TOO powerful...

apple computers really are wonderful. but they are very over priced. I can build a pc for the same price that a mac cost that will out preform the mac more that two times, so yeah pc is more economical. I personaly am not that big of fan of Mac OS. It is over priced, and the programs are definatly over priced. Most every decent program that you can pick up for Mac you can find it or one very similar on PC. If i had a mac i'd probably just run linux off of it honestly and have a pc right next to it running windows.

please be aware you CANNOT under any circumstances compare a PC's power to a MAC's just by looking at the initial spec. To make it simple, they both have totally different architectural processors, one being Cisc, the other one being Risc.

Its easy to say the MAC only goes 1ghz and my PC goes at 1.9ghz but it just is not as simple as that im afraid.

don't worry matty, i am very aware of that. I do not go by numbers because numbers are utter crap. They are just there to make people feel good when buying a computer. I am saying i can make a pc out preform a mac for the money that a mac cost, that is measurable by testing time in running aps, overall processing time, stuff like that. very easily tested. There really is no mac that compare with lets say a dual P4 3 gig with 1.5 gb of ram. sorry it just doesn't happen.

yes but a p4 3ghz is £430 alone and 1.5gb PC2700 RAM is approx £500 - and there are very chipsets that allow you to load over 1 gig of PC2700 RAM. Add all the costs together and that is going to buy you 2 maybe even three MAC's. taking an average pc into account - AMD or Intel 2.2ghz rated, 512mb PC2700 RAM, nVidia GeForce4ti4200 and 60gb ATA100 HDD - its not going to be too much faster. the advantage that the PC has is that its a better entertainment unit and it is more suited to the home enviroment.
