I have had a guest at my forum for 2 days now. He/she look at the different threads, viewing profiles and memberlist and so on. But no posting what so ever !

I don't care that he/she spends so much time there, but I wonder one thing. How do you know if it's a person that attempts to hack your forum ? (Don't say he/she is...just wonder in general) Can you tell before it's too late ? :)

i had this same problem, i just banned the persons IP for 10 seconds to get them off, then i let the person on

next day, same thing :) i just made a backup of my forum and site, and left the person to his own devices

He's gone now, but actually I was a bit scared for a moment :) But I think it's hard to ban someone without knowing more. Maybe he was a newbie and found it hard to find the loginbutton in the forum :D

That is a spider, but it's some kid's spider. He has been annoying ppl for quite some time.

By "kids spider", John means that it's homegrown. It's not related to any of the established search engines, but someone who's gotten themselves some software or built their own.

Hmmm....I think it's John haunting us :twisted: When I entered the webmaster-forum.net and looked at the bottom left corner an ip similar to that was shown.... :P
