Ah i am finnaly listed on google, i thought that would never happen. Just a quick question, is it the number of visits that you get as a result of a click through on google that increases your page rank or just the number of visits to the website in general? I need to up my ranking, 4 will not cut it for too long.

Your PageRank is not based on clicks from Google. It's several factors, but most visibly it is the number of sites that link to yours. 8)
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ok. not sure how many people are linking to me, i guess i need to expand on that a little more.

A PR of 4 is definitely not to shabby for a new site. Just start working on getting other sites to link to yours. Try for links from pages that have a good PR level. John's right. DMOZ is a good start. Try to get listed from a category with high PR, but don't be surprised if it takes forever to get listed. There are a lot of good directories out there and hand submitting can be time consuming and frustrating but it can be well worth it.
Try to find links from sites that compliment your own content.
And very important: try to get a keyword or 2 in the link text, if its appropriate...that doesn't improve your PR...but it does give a lot of weight to where google places your site for search terms.
PR in itself...is totally relient on the number (and PR) of backlinks you have.
But PR, is only one factor in how high up you'll be when someone does a search for your chosen keywords.

Be careful about other sites linking to yours.
Cross linking from sites that are not relevant can actually hurt you, and links from sites with low PR may not hurt, but they will not help either.
Google has that in their algorithm to prevent people from setting up multiple sites just for the purpose of providing links back.
A DMOZ listing will probably not help much if you are already PR4 unless you are lucky enough (not likely) to get listed pretty high up in the category tree, where the page has a high PR.
i've submited to DMOZ already, it just is not listed yet. I spent a weekend about 3 or so weeks ago i guess it was and just promoted the site as much as possible. I submited to all the search engines that were free, and to some classified adds and services pages and just stuff like that. seems to be paying off, my site visit level has gone up a little, still not enough though. I am so far back in google that it will be a while before i ever start getting hits from them probably. I really wish i could pull up in the ranks a little.

You need more content. Start adding text and you'll see yourself start to climb. Remember though that it can take up to 8 weeks (depending on when you make changes) for Google to change your ranking due to them.

I think this has got to be the number one overlooked thing in search engine optimization. Most SEO firms don't even have copy writers. Text, text, and more text - the key to traffic. 8)

Do you have anything on your site other than a forum (which G. may not spider, BTW)? Do you have any other sites linking to you?

When I check if other sites links to me at altavista I got hits, but not with google. But I've added my site to several linksites, but that might not count ?!?
No, it's just a forum.....do you think it would help if I added a index site instead ?
