I just had an interesting hit on my website.. from www.turnitin.com which is a plagiarism detection system.
This is what the stats show
TurnitinBot/1.5 http://www.turnitin.com/robot/crawlerinfo.htm
I'm not sure how I feel about that.. it seems to be a good idea for high schools and colleges. Just something I've never seen before.
This post should probably be in a different category but didn't know which one.

Huh. First I heard about them. I personally don't like non-SE bots crawling my sites, but I'm too lazy to actually ban the IP.
They got kinda a Big Brother attitude, don't they?

They hit us about every six weeks or so. I look at it as a good thing. It means the content on the site is drawing attention.

why would it matter if someone or something is visiting your site. Unless the "bot" started causing problems with bandwidth usage or something who cares?

hehe.. maybe I'm the paranoid one..
My comment about "I'm not sure how I feel about that"... pertained to what if they are checking my stuff for plagiarism...haha..

Actually, it gets pulled into their database so they're checking to see if anyone is plagiarizing you, too. It's used by a lot of teachers. Scan in the students paper, find it on the web, instant "F".

Yep to Shalinara.. i put that comment before I actually read the rest of their FAQ's .. not a bad idea though.. probably pretty useful.

I thought about that jeremy but I never plagiarised in college so I don't want anyone else to either.. although I don't know what they want off my site..haha.
