What is the base pagerank for new web sites? If pagerank goes from 1 to 10 then 5 would be base IMHO.

And can it be in the index and still no pagerank?

What is the base pagerank for new web sites? If pagerank goes from 1 to 10 then 5 would be base IMHO.

A new website with a link from Yahoo's index page would have a PR6 or more. A new website with no incoming links might start out at PR3. PR1 & PR2 are often penalty ranks.

And can it be in the index and still no pagerank?
Yes. The fresh crawl can put new pages into the index without PR.
